The rig for this trip is "Monty," a 1986 VW Vanagon Campmobile. Specifically, Monty is a "six-seater" which means he has a full width bed and one table and does not have a propane stove or refrigerator. He did have a 12 V cooler with his original equipment, but that was not with him when we got him in 2005. Some refer to this model as a "Weekender." We specifically wanted a Weekender when we got interested in campers again. Our 1971 VW Campmobile did not have a stove inside the van either.

He has the wonderful pop-up top. Fahren Sie nur mit dem geschlossenen Dach!

He did have 236,000 miles and while some engine work had been done, we knew when we purchased him that we would be doing an engine and transmission fairly soon.

We did some road trips in 2005, 2006, and 2007, the longest to Montana and back to Seattle. You can find some other photos of him in some other galleries.
