Beggar hidden in the grass
During the 2009 Rut, Beggar bred with Goldie. He is a very mean buck and beat her up pretty bad. It took us 2 weeks to find her after this picture was taken.

Goldie, Beggar's mate in 2009
Beggars mate in 2009. Goldie held court over the area. He had to fight off a number of other bucks, but he prevailed.

Beggar Doe's 2009 fawn
This is the new fawn hiding in the grass. We don't know yet if it's a buck or doe. They really are boney and it takes a couple days for them to fill out and get cute.
6/2/09 Most of the does have now given birth to their fawns. You might be able to observe them early morning or late evening.

Little Lost Fawn, May 26th 2009, this fawn died ,probably a victum of the coyotes as we saw a big male coyote in the area
This was Skars offspring, we never saw the fawn again and for a couple of weeks Beggar did not show up and we saw a large coyote in the area.

Beggar Doe and newborn 05/26/09
This is Beggar doe with her newborn fawn. We just happened to be present when she gave birth. She was nice enough to let me get close enough to watch as she cleaned off the afterbirth and got it on it's feet.

Doesn't she have beautiful eyes?

Beggar Doe, Matriach of the family with Skar 2008
Skar was the first buck that we identified and in the early years his constant companion was Too Tall, until 2007 when they went there seperate ways. We did not see Skar in 2009 and we believe that Too Tall died in the fall of 2008.
26-OCT-2007
Skar waiting to cross the road
This is Skar, we have observed Skar since 2004. At that time he was a small 8 pointer. He was the dominant buck between Tall, Snelling and Amigo. Skar got his name that season when he got into a fight with another buck, broke his antler off and had a large cut on his forehead.
We believe he is the father to Woodtick and Tiny Ted. We did observe him with Beggar and he sired Floydee.

Skar was the dominate buck in this area. He got injured and moved out of the area in late Nov.

Fraidycat crossing the road. Looks like he could be related to Tall. He has the high antlers which sets him apart from the other bucks who seem to be carrying short, wider ones.

We were certainly surprised to see this fellow, he is Beggar Does' fawn from two years ago.

Beggar Doe
We have been observing this doe since 2004. Her offspring in 2005, a buck, we called Snelling. In 2006 a pair of buck fawns which we named Tiny Tim (Renamed Woodtick at a year and a half for his behavior, as being a constant pest to his older brother Snelling ) and Tiny Ted. Fraidy Cat, a buck, was born in 2007. Her fawn in 2008 was named Floyd and changed to Floydee when we finally realized that she was a doe. Her fawn in 2009 was lost shortly after birth. There were coyotes in the area.

Look 10 points at three and half
It seems like little Woodtick has sure been growing some nice antlers. I'm wondering if he is going to look this good after the rut.

Woodtick comes home
We last saw Woodtick in April and we were wondering if he had become one of this years casualties when he came for breakfast on Saturday. Boy was it nice seeing him!

I am sorry to report that we found Woodtick dead at the age of 3.5. He died in his bed on Feb. 6, 2010.

Woodtick enjoying the weather
Woodtick is carrying 10 points. He came back to his home territory early in the fall but a big buck we named Goldie took over and Woodtick moved out until now. These are some of our last photos of Woodtick as we found his carcass the first week of Feb. We followed this deer from a fawn until now and a lot of people knew and called him by his name Woodtick

Tiny Ted 2009
Although a lot shyer than his twin in the beginning, this year Teddy has come of age. His personality has come out and he no longer hides in the background. He like Tick is 10 points and still carrying them at the end of January.

Beggar with Tiny Ted and Woodtick, summer of 2006
I've noticed that Beggar loves the water and she frequently will take her fawns to the pond and they actually play chasing each other and anybody else who may be there, oftentimes its their brothers.

Here is Beggar Doe with Blondie. Blondie was one of the dominant bucks in the area in 2005. He is possibly Snelling's sire.
