Day 199
The photograph on the top of the books is one of my favorite pictures of my Uncle Bob. Uncle Bob was a professional photographer and an all around cool guy. He loved sci fi and computers and all things geek before they were cool or popular. He started my brother reading Asminov when he was still young, he got both my brother and I excited about the internet when it was almost unheard of. He had a mid life crisis and went from being a photographer to an aspiring children's writer.
Sadly he died of a heart defect when I was only 14. I can only imagine what sort of person he would be now. I can see him being a blogging mad man, a master of social networking, and loving every moment of how geek has become chic, yet still always being on the edge of something new.

This picture used to live on a different shelf, but the cats knocked it over and then knocked a stack of D&D books onto it, smashing the glass. Thankfully the picture was not damaged. So I found a new home for the picture, hopefully where the cats will not get to it.
