Day 141
When I was in high school we did a show called Bury the Dead my senior year for UIL. I played a character that was the mother of a young dead soldier. My director was known for creating very beautiful moving tablos. The opening for our show involved the soldier marching in place to a cadence with an American flag slowly waving over their head. The lights went out, a single down spot came on to display me cradling the body of my characters son wrapped in an American flag. Since the pose was based on the Pieta, my grandmother gave me a small figure of the Pieta she had gotten when she was in Italy decades before. I keep the statue and the picture side by side still.
