Day 9
When I was a little girl I had two snow globes my grandfather had given me. One was a bear with a Christmas wreath and the other was two Christmas ducks also with wreaths. I have no idea why he gave them to me, if it was for Christmas or a special occasion or simply because he thought I would like them. I just remember that he gave them to me.
Sometime after he died, maybe a few years after, I knocked into the bookcase they were on and the snow globe with the bear fell over and broke. I remember how absolutely crushed I was. It was at that moment like I had lost part of him again.
I kept the ducks in a safer place since then and always take extra care when moving them. They are not in the best of shape, the water level is lower, and the base is starting to come up, but that does not matter to me. They are very dear to me if for nothing else than they are a small part of a man who was so important to my life.
