Susan T, I came upon your site by accident.I was doing a search on John Grimek and came upon pictures of your dad.The one photo at the MAC showed Joe Loprizi directing your dad in some poses. Is your dad still alive? There were some pretty impressive shots.The newspaper clipping telling of his 300lb clean and jerk says volumes about his strength and agility. All this without steroids. I am a life long Oregonian.I grew up in the Portland area,and now reside in Milwaukie Or..I got into lifting at 14 and haven't stopped.Along the way I had a good deal of success in the late 60's and 70's.I won Novice and Mr. Portland,Mr. Oregon,Mr. Northwest,and Mr.Pacific Coast.I got out of bodybuilding because of the steroids.In June 2009 I put on my posing trunks again to enter a natural contest in Hawaii. I placed second in the masters division The picture of your dad at 70 gives me hope for the future.He still looked good.I am most impressed with the bodybuildeers of the 40's. They built impressive strong physiques naturally.Their muscles stood the test of time.John Grimek, Steve Reeves, Clancy Ross,George Eifferman, Alan Stephans,Sam Loprinzi,and your dad were products of hard work,healthy living, and good genetics,not drugs. What started as a curiosity piece about an old time bodybuilder/ weightlifter turned into a interesting story, through pictures, of a woman who loved and admired her dad and was surrounded,by many friends and family.
