I think this fallen tree had grown too close to the river and despite its obvious great age,
eventually encountered a wind its root system couldn't withstand.
I'm not a tree-hugger and view trees as a valuable renewable resource to be used by mankind,
but these giant redwoods are so awe-inspiring, majestic, and ancient that to indiscriminately
cut them down for their wood seems immoral. I'm very glad someone had the foresight to protect
them before they were all destroyed. Only 4% of them remain. Sad. Living organisms as old as
these trees deserve nothing but our respect and admiration to have survived for so long.
