Better Color

Increasing an image's color saturation in Photoshop's Lab mode produces better color (and even greater detail) than doing the same while in RGB mode, as shown in the images in this galleries (although it doesn't show in the thumbnails).

However, my biggest problem with using Lab mode is that most of my image editing is done using adjustment layers in order to leave the base image untouched and unfortunately adjustment layers are lost when switching between modes.
