According to the markings on the neck block (inside the guitar body) this 000-size 6-string was manufactured on September 7, 1972.
Owner: Mark E (USA)
I am the original owner. Purchased the guitar brand new in 1973 in a small music store in Poughkeepsie, NY. The guitar
was always kept in the case and in the closet -- except when brought out to play, of course. If I remember correctly,
I paid $75 USD for it.
Until a few years ago, the guitar was 100% vintage. I do not plan to sell the guitar, so I decided to make some improvements.
I replaced the original pickguard, which had light scratches, with a Tortis '30s style -- see photo gallery below.
I also replaced the original adjustable saddle with one I handmade out of Indian Rosewood. Also replaced was the
original plastic saddle with a vintage bone saddle. See the gallery below for details on this modification
The last upgrade was the tuners - the originals were chrome covered and not the best quality.I replaced them with Grover Sta-tite nickel
open-back tuners because they replicate the vintage style of Martin acoustics of that time period.
The guitar has wonderful tone -- very full, yet bright. It also has great sustain for an acoustic. I have played Martin 000s and OMs
and my Jedson sounds at least as good. It has a solid spruce top. The jury is still out on the back and sides.
