Photosafari to Kenya with the McDonalds for Birds and Mammals-November 2008

This nature photo safari covered 3 areas-Samburo,Lake Nakuro and Masai Mara in 18 days with 34 morning and evening Landrover trips out from the camps. My wife Joan also provided some of shots which were taken with a point and shoot.

what lens did you use at 500mm? did you need to do much cropping? I'm trying to get a sense of how far/close you were to the animals and how long the lens is needed. thanks.
