Lab19 is a group of creative artists from Belize. who protested & performed at the Nohmul site on 17 July 2014. Kate Usher lives in the tiny village of Boston Village, off the Old Northern Highway in the District of Belize, southeast of Nohmul which lies in the Orange Walk District.

A deal could have been struck with the land owners for access.
To most of us this site represented an ancient ruin to be thoughtfully preserved, but for Demar’s Stone Company it was nothing
more than a commodity.
The question being, were the landowners aware of what was happening?

As recently as June 2015 the case against the excavators continues in Corozal Magistrates Court.
Since the beginning of the case, the defendant’s Denny Grijalva and his wife, owners of Demar’s Stone Company, the foreman of Demar’s Stone Company and excavator Operator Emir Cruz have been in court.

Mr. Grijalva is associated with the ruling UDP party, of which Prime Minister Barrow is certainly a member.
Denny Grijalva is the Standard Bearer of the Orange Walk District. He is a direct reflection of the political corruption
that will keep Belize on its knees as a third World country. It is encouraging that citizens from the creative community staged a protest against Nohmul's distruction at the site.....
