La Milpa is an ongoing archaeological project, maintained by the Programme for Belize Conservation and Management Area (PfBCMA). The 230,000 acre tract of pristine and largely unexplored subtropical forest lies in the Orange Walk District of northern Belize.
La Milpa features both winter and summer field school projects, as well as housing and feeding ecoturists from around the world who come for periods of a week or more to learn about the flora, fauna, and archaeological remains of the PfB Conservation Area.
Boston University's Drs. Norman Hammond and GairTourtellot are investigating the ancient city of La Milpa. It is the largest Maya site yet found in the PfB Conservation Area.
