Toni, I cam looking for your orb weaver spiders, but stumbled across this one. What a remarkable situation captured for posterity. You must have a harmonious household.

Gotta say, this is one of the sweetest pics on PBase! What suckers we are for cute felines and rodents! Ells

This is wonderful. Honestly, there is nothing I would rather do than watch different species interacting like this. May make me sound a bit ridiculous, but I've always found great joy in it. Beautiful photo.

This baby's eyes aren't open yet and it is hungry and clinging to its furless mother knowing the formula is coming. Baby squirrels of this age transfer easily to a human caregiver and like the security of a small space (the grip of the hand) to feel safe. Basically - Food Is Love!.

Wonderful shot. But the squirrel looks kind of scared. Or is it just feeling comfortable? :)

Now this deserves a vote! Well done.

What a great photo! Toni, in all my years, I have NEVER seen a baby squirrel. Nice to know that a hand raised kitten doesn't know how to kill. I have an abandoned kitten whose eyes were still closed when we found him and also a parakeet....

Thanks for your comments-No she is just sniffing the baby while I am getting ready to syringe feed it. Polly was ripped from her ferile mom at 4 weeks and was never taught to kill. She will chase a fly gleefully but she will not kill it.

An amazing photo and a very tender circumstance! Is the cat nursing the squirrel? Priceless again, Toni!

What an endearing scene.....
One can feel true emotion here.
Did Polly adopt the baby squirrel in the end?
:) Marie
