As seen in the views of the hitches still on the "sprue," the end hitches are shorter in height than the middle unit hitches. This is because the spine frame of the car has a vertical bend near the midpoint of the car at the end units. Athearn molded a single short hitch part loosely based on the ATSF 10-Pack hitch design and simply added platforms for the hitches on the intermediate units. I removed the platforms and installed taller hitches on the intermediate platforms.
