Amanda designed the whole car and did most of the sanding, painting, and decorating. I just did the heavy sawing, adding weights and adjusting the wheels. It turned out mighty nice and we finished several days ahead of the race day.

Amanda lines up in Lane three for the first race of the day..

Of course that first trip didn't count.. So here is the real finish of the first heat... And look closely... Amanda's car isn't behind those others, it bounced off the interior of the finish gate and was headed back up the track as the others come in to finish... But nuts... one car flipped off the track so they have to run it again...

Something must have happened at the end of that first race because Amanda's car finished last for the next two.. The explanation became obvious, but not until she had lost those two heats... Here is The line up for the second race... Look how misaligned the right front wheel is... The axle was badly bent.

The fifth race was a little tighter.. some clenched teeth there...

Some tense moments as we waited for the results of the voting for "most original", "most patriotic", "most like a food" and perhaps one other category... We didn't win any of those...
