One of the other features of Loy Krathong is these hot air balloons. They are made of paper and have a block of wax/wood chips suspended in the center which is lit to provide the hot air.

Here you see a young woman waiting for her balloon to gather enough heat to be released.. Unfortunately, I never thought to take a shot of the sky with several hundred of these floating away at the same time that fireworks are going off all around....
