This wheel has a rim constructed of beautifully figured goncalo alves over a layer of Brazilian cherry. The slivers between segments are also Brazilian cherry. The dowels are a dark genuine teak. The rim is styled after some early Maserati and Ferrari steering wheels.
The goncalo alves was cut to provide greatest exposure to its ray flake grain. All the Brazilian cherry was cut to provide the ray flakes to be visible on the exposed edges. This is visible in some of the pictures.
