Form this angle, the dark wedge on the auriculars can be seen. It is funny how the apparent extent of black can change with posture. With better looks today than I had previously, the bird is still coming into breeding plumage. The black isn't as extensive as I 1st thought, and still has a good bit of pale tipping.
