This big cotton stubble field, is an ideal location for finding these beauties. It has the requisite grass necessary for these birds, and is on a lightly traveled road that allows you to slowly drive along as you look down every row. We had 20 of these birds in this general area, and the 30 we saw on the day was more than I had ever seen in total during my 15 or so years of active birding.
All the diffent parts of this bird look somewhat mismatched at a glance, but it is adapted perfectly to its favored environment.
