This was the last lifer of the trip, and a fairly common bird that we had been looking hard for. The location of this bird was just north of Ventura.
We had just shown an Eastern Phoebe (which had been hanging around) to a few birders, when we tracked down this beauty, and were able to show it to them as well. This bird was, in typical Sapsucker fashion, very quiet, and hard to spot.
My camera malfunctioned the day before, in that the zoom wouldn't extend all the way out. This is why I have the bad vignetting going on.
