Peregrine Falcon

Ensley; Memphis, TN

A sight that birders love to see, and a sight that can quickly put thousands of shorebirds in the air in unison. The color is washed out, but the distinctive profile of the Peregrine is easily seen.

We enjoyed several very close passes from this young bird, which is still trying to master its trade. It enjoyed harrassing other raptors in the area, but almost bit off more than it could chew when it sparked the ire of a huge female Peregrine that was also in the area. The tables turned pretty quickly at that point, and our feisty little male Peregrine went back to harrassing Red-tails and Kestrels.
