While Starlings certainly don't generate much excitement around the USA, we saw some "good" ones in Korea. In fact, seeing a European Starling would have probably made the trip for Nial! Grey, or White-cheeked Starling is the common Starling in Korea, and in addition to it we had three other species. This, the White-shouldered or Grey-backed Starling was considered a vagrant in Korea, but is a rare but regular migrant to the islands. We also had the Chestnut-cheeked or Violet-backed Starling, and rarest of all, Daurian Starling. These are all much better looking than our Common version.
