Siberian Thrush

Korea

While one person observed this extremely sectetive Thrush on Socheong, the group had much better luck on Eocheong, where this stunning male was photographed. These birds are notoriously hard to get good looks at, as all of the Asian Thrushes seemed to be, only more so than most. Even common thrushes, like Gray-backed, was hard to get a look at for the most part. Grey-backs were a constant backdrop on the islands, but I had probably heard 50 before I finally saw one.

Sibe Thrush was a bird that one well-traveled birder from the UK was especially wanting to see. It didn't disappoing either, as we were together when this shot was taken, and later had one land (briefly) just a few feet from us on the path. We also did very well with Thrushes, seeing 10 species, of which I photographed 6.

I got off two shots of this bird on this perch, which was completely in the shade. Thanks to Photoshop, it could easily be lightened enough to bring the bird out pretty well.
