These calm conditions are very helpful for locating Red-throated's, as with their small size and generally pale coloration they can be next to impossible to find in rough waters. They also often dive almost continually, and will often go long distances underwater. We enjoyed long looks at this bird, at two different times during the day, and even got to watch it fly, as it demonstrated it's distinctive head-bobbing routine in flight.
