This is the same bird, a little too fuzzy to show much detail. It does show the profile to good effect, with the small bill and roundish head giving a very petite impression. This was the impression you got when the bird was close to a Herring for comparison, with the Thayer's coming off as less of a bruiser, although it didn't let the Herring Gulls intimidate it. This photo is a good example of the effect of lighting, in this strong lighting the bird is a little lighter than the previous shot, and the dark eye smudge is largely washed out.
