Like the Great Black-back, I wanted to get a flight shot showing the wing and tail pattern, but this was the closest I got. From below, when backlit the flight feathers were totally translucent, with very-light barring on the undertail. From above, from any distance the bird looked totally white-winged, with none of the strong Thayer's pattern to the primaries. At close-range, the slightly darker outer webs to the primaries could be seen, there was no obvious secondary bar, and the bird had a diffuse tail band.
