Avocets (and Laughing Gulls) are rare but regular in TN during migration, but not in numbers like this! This is just a portion of the flock at Rockport, where we birded with Michael & Merce Tarachow after our boat trip for the Whooping Cranes got back in. There are several birds in this bunch that are already coming into breeding colors.
