Harris's was the common hawk of the arid scrublands of south TX. The exposure is off a little on this shot, robbing this bird of a little of its beauty. The contrast in dark brown, chestnut, and white is stunning. We often encountered this bird in small family groups, sitting around on the lookout for anything they could tag team.
