Thank you very much! I will look at Brown Snake again in my guides when I get home, sure is a good description! :") Really appreciate the info, just wasn't one I was familiar with.

Given the location, the odds are about 99% that this is a Brown Snake, Storeria dekayi. There are a couple of ssp. listed for MI, Northern and Midland, and telling which one it is would probably require picking it up to look closely at the head scales. It's a widespread species, and most people just say "Brown Snake". I've seen the Midland ssp at my place in middle TN.
