We had the only Westerns on the count this year. The yellow malar, and subdued facial pattern and coloring overall show pretty well here. When the two birds left the wire here, they flew at least 100 yards out into a field, and never glided once, in comparison to the steady flap and glide, flap and glide of Eastern.
