Saffron Finch

Sheraton Kona area; Hawaii

Saffron Finch was one of the common sights on our hotel grounds, along with Common Myna, Zebra Dove, Yellow-billed Cardinal, Java Sparrow, Japanese White-eye and of course House Sparrow. Other birds not seen as often were Burrowing Parakeet (quite a surprise that wasy!), Red-masked Parakeet, Common Waxbill, Yellow-fronted Canary. Just down the street was my only Lavender Waxbill of the trip! Of course all of these are introduced, you have to get up to some elevation to get any native passerines now.
