There are 3 distinct forms of Elepaio on the Big Island, I had finally seen the hardest, the very pale Mauna Kea subspecies earlier in the day, and then had great looks at a Volcano race here in the kipukas. I never saw the 3rd, the Kona coast race, but didn't visit any good habitat for it. This guy put on quite a show, much of the time to close for my 400mm to even focus.
