Our best reptile encounter of the trip. This docile Black-tailed Rattler was crossing the road near Cave Creek. It never rattled at us, but you can see it is very alert and has the front part of its body lifted off the pavement.

This was definitely a time that a 100-400 would have served me better than my 400 prime.
