Comet Holmes - 30 October 2007

This strange comet was visible only in very large telescopes until it suddenly brightened by nearly a million times last week! It is now visible, in the constellation Perseus, to the naked eye. Binoculars or a telescope will reveal the disk-like appearance of its dust & gas cloud or 'coma'. Compared to the photos from 28 and 29 October, the increase in size of the coma and the movement against the background stars is obvious.
