The Gannel is an estuary that separates the headlands of East and West Pentire, near Newquay. The image was taken from the end of one of the many paths that disappear into the estuary at high tide! The slightly misty effect at the entrance of the Gannel is caused, I think, by sand blown from Crantock beach by the near 40mph wind gusts.
