Saturn - 12 May 2012

Saturn is trickier to image this year, as it is very low in the sky from the UK and thus badly affected by atmospheric turbulence. However, the rings are wider open than last year. Cassini's Division, a gap in the rings, is visible, as is a dark cloud belt across the disk.

Meade 127mm ED telescope and Philips SPC 900NC webcam. 5-minute video clip stacked & processed using Registax 5 software. full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Good work, interesting the way the rings change orientation,

That's amazing - clever stuff. Even with a telescope I never realised Saturn could be seen.
