Canyon De Chelly National Monument, Arizona

This beautiful canyon in northeastern Arizona belongs to the Navajo nation. It has been occupied and farmed by Native Americans since approximately 1000 AD. The tribal names of all the various native groups are not positively known for the early years, although these groups are loosely described as the Anasazi. The buildings known as the "White House" ruins were erected by the prehistoric natives.
