Necropoli del Crocifisso del Tufo

Located at the foot of the tufa cliffs of Orvieto, this complex of stone tombs was a cemetery for the Etruscans of Velzna from the 6th to the 3rd century BC.
The many small tombs are arranged along "streets" in a city-like formation. The contents found here including jewelry, ceramics, funerary urns and religious items can be seen in Orvieto's museums.

I love this place. We saw some Etruscan tombs, but they were caves in a cliff and hard to get to. This place looks much bigger and more organized.

This is a wonderful album. The first photo's composition and depth of field are perfect. As usual, I feel blessed to have you take me somewhere I'll likely never see.
