As you know on Sunday Jan. 20th a few of us kids went to Mitchel Field to skate. Nancy Gregor was there as well as Barb ( Lowcock ) Bender and her husband Paul.
Joan ( Hart ) Lund and her grand daughter Grace were there as well as my wonderful wife Lila and of course me...Chuck! The skate lasted about 45 minutes to an hour but that included putting on and taking off the skates. Joan, Grace and Lila are the best skaters. I managed to skate back and forth slowly with the assistance of the boards in the same manner as I did some 56 years ago. The lower back muscles are some what weak but in time if I apply myself I can be back in good form for next year. Barb and Paul sat out the skate as did Nancy, they cheered us on. After the skate we took some photos that I have attached here. There is no photo taking in the arena while there are people about. We did manage two photos before the crowd came in. I also managed some few minutes of Barb and Paul at the outside of the arena on video and at the Tim Hortons where we went for hot CoCo on Yonge Street north of Cummer. It was amazing to see Barb again after 39 years! We used to be playmates on Parkview, God the revelry, when I think back. It went on for a solid 6 years and as kids that was a long long time. We went through 24 seasons! So now that Barb got her piece of the reunion cake I can get to the video and get it to DVD asap. Bear with me...please.:)
Included is a message I got from Ruth. I am not sure if you guys have it but on her new site we get to see the wonderful work she does! Aaaamazing Ruth! I think we should definitely go out to her place for some hot tea and toast with jam one morning and tour the place and spin some old Willowdale yarns. More on that later...a back yard picnic and sleep over! OK...maybe not. :)
