The wonderful rock carvings were abandoned as a temple site, and the Shore Temple was constructed and used instead. While it's on a great spot by the sea, I was disappointed in it after seeing the previous carvings, probably because the other carvings still look so fresh, while these have all been badly eroded by the sea.
