Agua Azul Falls

I had the luxury of a private guide, Estefan, and driver, Raoul, to drive me to Palenque, about 6 hours from San Cristobal. On the way we visited two gorgeous falls.

Aqua Azul reminded me of Pamukkale, Turkey, because of the color of the water and the rock formations. Like Pamukkale, the formations are the result of calcium leached out of the rock and deposited into pools downstream.

Boy, what a beautiful spot. I'd sure love to be alone there and get naked in that green pool just beneath the falls ;^)
