Twelve birders enjoyed the beautiful fall day at the Raines home in Breaks, VA. The morning was frosty, but the day quickly warmed up and everyone enjoyed a nice day of birding, good companionship and good food. Forty species were counted for the day with birds of note being Red-shouldered, Broad-winged and Red-tailed Hawks, 4 species of woodpeckers, a Blue-headed Vireo, a Winter Wren, lots of Eastern Bluebirds, a late Gray Catbird, a Brown Thrasher and 2 Northern Mockingbirds, Cedar Waxwings, a Tennessee Warbler, Cape May Warblers and Yellow-rumped Warblers, 5 sparrow species - Towhees, Chipping, Field, Song and White-throated.
These photos were taken by my wife Lynda and by me.

We are so fortunate to have you guys! We can always count on you both to add both photos and lists. Thanks for these great shots of Sparrow Day. Hope we can have a repeat next year. Really liked the "cold trail" shot!
