While fishing from our boat on John Flannagan Reservoir in Dickenson County VA, my wife and I came upon this immature Sora feeding along a rocky shore. At times it was even 25-30 feet up on a vertical cliff face. Evidently the bird had stopped during its fall migration to feed along the lake shore. These photos are poor ones but do tell the story. I have never seen a Sora feed in such an area, and this is the first one I have ever seen on the reservoir.
