Hurricane Sandy combined with a cold front on October 29 to drop 12 inches of snow on us here in Buchanan County in Southwest Virgina. Some trees still had foliage and the wet snow forced trees and shrubs to bend to the ground. This morning I could hear branches breaking in the woods nearby, as they gave way under the weight.
