Gray Fox Returns

Last winter (2006-2007) three and sometimes four Gray Foxes came into our yard each evening to be fed. They stopped coming in March, though we did see one come through the yard this fall while some deer were in the yard.
This evening after dark I happened to look out the kitchen window, and there lying in the grass and looking up at the window was a Gray Fox. It acted as if it were waiting for something.
I slid open the window and tossed out a piece of wiener. The fox got up, trotted over to it and ate it. It then sat on its haunches, and looked up at me as if waiting for more.
Over a period of about 10 minutes my wife,Lynda, and I tossed several pieces. Each time the fox ate. Finally it had had enough. It picked up the last piece and trotted toward the woods, just as the foxes had done last winter. Evidently this is one of those from last year. I am amazed that it still remembered after nearly 8 months. It didn't seem the least bit nervous. It had stretched out in the grass as if it felt completely comfortable. I wonder if it will continue to come for a handout throughout this winter.
Here is a photo I took of it while it was moving around the yard picking up the food. The flash didn't bother it at all.
