Burkes Garden is located in Southwest VA in Tazewell County and is the highest valley in VA being above 3000 feet in elevation. On March 10, 2010 four of us of the Buchanan County Bird Club decided to do some birding there, hoping that there were still some wintering Rough-legged Hawks and Golden Eagles there, in spite of the recent heavy snow and the lateness of the season. We didn't find those two species, but we found 47 other species in addition to skunks, deer, foxes, muskrat and woodchuck. Some of them offered photo opportunities.
