BUSSANA VECCHIA

Bussana Vecchia is a small village on the hills immediately behind Arma di Taggia, close to its beautiful beach
The village was completely destroyed by a strong earthquake in year 1887 and then abandoned by its survived inhabitants, which decided to move to the shore because scared for what has happened
The village has been unlived for almost 80 years when, in late sixties of last century, a community of artists decided to come back to Bussana Vecchia and started living again in the ruins.
They also decided to live in the village as it was, not trying to re-build the demaged houses.
Now Bussana Vecchia is visited by many tourists and there are several ateliers and galleries of those artists still staying here
