Mondayevening January 28th, 2008, Canon organised a Launch Event in the Centraal Studios in Utrecht to present to the Dutch retailers the new collection 'Spring 2008' and introduce the new models in all the various consumer product lines, from EOS to Selphy.
Star players were the just-days-before announced new EOS 450D/Digital Rebel XSi and the new PowerShots.
A big anti-climax was the fact, that the one single 450D present was defective and lacked a battery, so not even the feel was completely accurate, and that both the new announced lenses, EF200mmF2.0 L IS USM and EF800mmF5.6 L IS USM were missing...
The whole event was organised in view of the Dutch participation in the European Football Championship coming Summer, guestst were invited to come in full 'Fottball-supporter battle dress'. Amongst those that accepted that invitation Canon drew a lottery and organised a small quiz with an organised trip to the Dutch opening match (against Italy) as the main prize.
