This beautiful Monastery is located on the bank of River Jagst -- about 25 miles Northwest of Schwäbisch Hall. It just loomed into view very unexpectedly -- unfortunately there is no such picture here. This is the first true baroque church I encountered on this trip -- splendid indeed. The Monastery was founded by Cistercian monks during the 12c and later rebuilt in 1708. It was a Cistercian Abbey until 1803 when it was secularised and used to house a Protestant theological college up until 1975. Currently, the Monastery houses the local authority and the Abbey belongs to the Diocese of Rottenberg-Stuttgart and is used for educational and recreational purposes.
