South Dakota, 2007

Unforgettable.
South Dakota must surely have provided
much of the inspiration for the lyrics
of "America the Beautiful".

I dedicate this gallery to my friend, Trudie Klopper, from Philip, SD.
If not for Trudie, I might never have known that such beautiful places
exist in the seemingly desolate areas of SD. Thank you for your time,
your patience when I wanted to get "just one more look", and for making
this trip unforgettable for me.
We didn't happen to see a rattle snake, as I secretly hoped,
but I saw so much more than I ever could have hoped for.

Thank you so much, Mathilda! Your beautiful pictures made me look at my surroundings with new eyes - I am almost embarrassed to admit that I haven't taken in the beauty for a long time. It is interesting - after you left I have been looking at everything more intensely to see if you would have been able to take a picture and make poetry out of it. I might just decide to stay on and never move to my dream place somewhere on this planet where there will be an abundance of water and trees:) We are looking forward to your next visit.
